Youssef En-Nesyri scores historic free-kick winner for Al-Ittihad

Youssef En-Nesyri scored his first-ever direct free-kick goal to give Al-Ittihad a dramatic 2-1 victory over Uzbek side Neftchi in the third round of the AFC Champions League Elite on Monday.

The Morocco striker struck in the 90th minute to complete a late comeback and earn Al-Ittihad three points. The result takes the club’s tally to four points in this season’s competition after a draw and a defeat in their opening two matches.

En-Nesyri’s decisive effort was notable not only for its timing but also because it was the first direct free-kick goal of his career. The unusual finish drew widespread attention and sparked an enthusiastic reaction from Al-Ittihad supporters.

Fans praised the striker’s performance and his role in securing an important win after a difficult start to the campaign. His late goal also strengthened his contribution to Al-Ittihad across domestic and continental competitions.

The 8-goal forward has now scored eight goals and provided two assists in 14 appearances for the club this season.

Al-Ittihad’s next listed fixture is against Abha in the Saudi Pro League on 30 October 2026. They are then scheduled to face Tractor in the AFC Champions League Elite on 02 November 2026, while Neftchi are also listed in the competition’s fixture schedule.
