Ferran Torres wants Paris Saint-Germain move as Barcelona prepare for talks

Paris Saint-Germain are closing in on one of their main summer transfer targets after Barcelona forward Ferran Torres made it clear he wants to join the European champions.
Torres has told people close to him that he would like to move to Paris Saint-Germain and has also informed several Barcelona team-mates of his decision, according to French outlet Foot Mercato on Saturday.
The Spain international’s stance has prompted Barcelona to reconsider their position. The Catalan club are now prepared to listen to offers for the 25-year-old, having previously been less open to the possibility of his departure.
Officials from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are expected to hold talks at the beginning of next week as they attempt to find an agreement that suits both clubs. No final deal has yet been reached.
The discussions will centre on the structure and terms of any potential transfer, with negotiations between the two clubs still at an early stage. However, Torres’ reported preference for Paris Saint-Germain has created a clearer route towards formal talks.
Spanish newspaper Sport previously reported that Paris Saint-Germain had told Torres they would be willing to improve on any contract renewal offer Barcelona might present to him. The French club are also understood to be confident they can persuade the player to move to the French capital.
Paris Saint-Germain are searching for a new forward following the departure of Portugal international Goncalo Ramos. Torres is one of the leading names on manager Luis Enrique’s shortlist because of his ability to operate in several attacking positions.
The 25-year-old can play as a centre-forward or on either wing, giving Luis Enrique tactical flexibility in how he sets up his attack. The manager is said to view Torres as an ideal fit for his system because of that versatility.
Torres is attracting interest after producing his best season for Barcelona. He scored 16 goals and provided two assists in 33 La Liga appearances, while also playing a significant role in Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph.
He scored the winning goal in the final against Argentina as Spain secured the trophy. That contribution has strengthened his standing and added to Paris Saint-Germain’s determination to bring him to the club.
If the transfer is completed, Torres would become the second player to move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain within six months. He would follow the emerging talent Dro Fernandez, who made the same switch during that period.
Ousmane Dembele moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain three seasons ago, meaning Torres would be the third player to make the journey during that timescale. For now, the two clubs must still agree the details of a deal before the proposed move can be completed.
