NFF President Ibrahim Gusau Likely to Lead WAFU Zone B

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
After Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku resigned as WAFU Zone B President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau from the Nigeria Football Federation has become the main candidate for the position.
Sources close to www.africasoccer.com indicate that Gusau is well-placed to succeed Okraku. His experience, stature, and respect among member associations give him an advantage.
Gusau is regarded as the most senior football official in the region after Okraku’s departure. He stands out not only because of his rank but also because of his good relationships with other football leaders.
His time as NFF president is credited with stabilising Nigerian football. Many in WAFU Zone B see him as a leader who can keep the progress moving and build on what Okraku achieved.
A source familiar with WAFU politics said, “He is popular, calm, and experienced. There is a strong chance he will be chosen by consensus.”
Many member nations of the zone already support Gusau. Reports suggest they are rallying behind him even before an official vote takes place.
If selected, Gusau would bring steady leadership and new energy to WAFU Zone B. The organisation aims to strengthen unity and boost football growth in West Africa.
The process to officially nominate the new WAFU Zone B president should be announced soon.
