“They cannot afford him” — Genk not ready to sell Tolu Arokodare cheap

By Monsurah Olatunji

Genk’s head coach, Thorsten Fink, has stated that the club will only consider selling their top scorer, Toluwalase Arokodare, if they receive an appropriate offer amid ongoing transfer speculation.

Arokodare, who joined Genk in the winter transfer window of 2023, has been instrumental in the team’s recent successes, including a notable 4-3 victory over Beerschot where he scored twice.

The 23-year-old Nigerian striker has become a key player for Genk, filling the void left by Paul Onuachu’s move to Southampton.

Despite interest from Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor, Fink believes that Trabzonspor is unlikely to meet Genk’s valuation of Arokodare.

“Trabzonspor cannot afford him,” Fink said, emphasizing that Genk will not part with their leading striker for a low fee.

Fink expressed confidence in the club’s management, stating, “I have experience with these kinds of football matters and know how they go, but I have every confidence in our board and Dimitri de Condé. They decide who comes and goes and do that excellently.”
