Niger Tornadoes’ Isyaky Iliyasu bemoans disappointing result against Kwara United

By Wale Mustapha

Niger Tornadoes Head Coach Isyaky Iliyasu expressed his disappointment following his team’s 1-1 draw with Kwara United on Sunday.

The Ikon Allah Boys managed to secure a point with a stoppage-time goal from Bashir Usman in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 34 encounter held in Kaduna.

The draw leaves Niger Tornadoes in 12th place on the NPFL table with 44 points from 34 games. Coach Iliyasu felt the result did not reflect his team’s effort and performance, promising improvements ahead of their next fixture.

“It’s really unfortunate,” Iliyasu stated. “We worked very hard and planned to get the three points, because we knew it would elevate us from our current position, especially with the season coming to an end.

“But today was just one of those bad days, and even the fans are aware of that. They know the kind of football we have played here, but today was just an off day, and you can’t rule it out in football. Thankfully, through our resilience, we were able to pick at least a point.”

Niger Tornadoes’ next challenge will be against Kano Pillars in Kano, where they will aim to bounce back and secure a much-needed victory.
