By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Head coach of Confluence Queens, Sabo Okala has heaped praises on his opponents, Nasarawa Amazons after a 1-0 loss in their Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership encounter on Wednesday in Lafia.

Ojiyovwi Kesiena’s 17th-minute goal settled the contest in favour of Christopher Danjuma’s side at the Lafia City Stadium.

The narrow loss ended Confluence Queens’ unbeaten start to the season, having amassed three wins and two draws from five games.

“Nasarawa Amazons is a team to be reckoned with. It was a good game from both sides,” Okala told Confluence Queens Media after the game.

“In as much as we want to win and see good football, I think good football was exhibited.

“We will go back home and strategise and work on the lapses we have seen today to see how we come out good in our next game.”

Matchday six witnessed the end of unbeaten runs of the last two unbeaten teams in the league; Bayelsa Queens and Confluence Queens.

With a loss in the North Central Derby, Confluence Queens will next face another team from the same region in Naija Ratels FC on January 10, 2024, at the Aguiyi Ironsi stadium, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
