Osimhen retains €75m valuation, remains Turkish Super Lig’s Most Valuable Player

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has maintained his place among the world’s most valuable footballers after retaining his €75 million market valuation in the latest Transfermarkt update, despite Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Galatasaray star remains the highest-valued player in the Turkish Super Lig and the only footballer from the division to feature among the world’s 55 most valuable players.

Osimhen’s valuation comes on the back of another prolific campaign in Turkey, where he has established himself as one of Europe’s most consistent goalscorers since joining the Istanbul giants.

The 27-year-old has scored 59 goals and provided 16 assists in 74 appearances across all competitions, playing a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s domestic success.

His impressive club form, however, was not enough to inspire Nigeria to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the Super Eagles falling to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the African qualifying playoffs.

Osimhen was forced off through injury during the first half of the decisive encounter before DR Congo secured qualification after winning the penalty shootout.

Despite missing football’s biggest tournament, the Nigerian striker’s standing among the world’s elite remained unaffected when Transfermarkt published its latest market value rankings following the World Cup.

Osimhen’s valuation stayed at €75 million, placing him alongside players such as Real Madrid’s Arda Güler and Juventus forward Kenan Yıldız, whose market values also remained unchanged.

Barcelona teenage sensation Lamine Yamal now tops the global rankings after his valuation rose by €20 million to €220 million.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé, Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham complete the top five most valuable players in world football.

Osimhen’s continued presence among football’s elite underlines his reputation as one of the game’s premier strikers and reinforces his status as Africa’s highest-valued player despite Nigeria’s absence from the World Cup.
