Erling Haaland reaches 300 club goals in Manchester City victory
Erling Haaland reached 300 goals in his club career as Manchester City began the Premier League season with a 1-0 win over Coventry City on Saturday afternoon.
The Norway striker scored the only goal of the game in the 26th minute, heading in a cross from Antoine Semenyo. The milestone takes his club tally to 300 goals and adds another landmark to a career that has continued to produce remarkable numbers.
Haaland’s goals have come across four clubs. He scored 20 times in 50 appearances for Molde, before finding the net 29 times in 27 matches for Red Bull Salzburg. During his time with Borussia Dortmund, he registered 86 goals in 89 games.
His most productive spell has come at Manchester City, where he has scored 165 goals in 202 appearances. His latest strike against Coventry City completed the total of 300 club goals.
The goal also gave Haaland another record since his arrival at Manchester City in the 2022-23 season. He has now scored more headed goals than any other player for the club during that period.
It was also his third goal in three matches this season, keeping him at the top of the Premier League scoring charts. He is level with Liverpool forward Alexander Isak and Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.
Haaland’s form has helped Manchester City make a perfect start to the campaign under manager Enzo Maresca. The victory over Coventry City was their third consecutive win, leaving them temporarily top of the table with nine points.
The Norway international’s latest achievement continues a sequence of statistical landmarks since moving to England. His goalscoring record has been central to Manchester City’s strong opening, with the striker once again finding the net early in the season and maintaining his position among the division’s leading scorers.
Against Coventry City, his decisive contribution came through a familiar route. Semenyo’s delivery allowed Haaland to use his aerial strength, and his header in the first half proved enough to settle a closely fought match.
The result means Manchester City retain their 100% record after three league games, while Haaland has scored in each of the matches he has played this season. His 300-goal club total and his headed-goal record provide further evidence of the range of his finishing, as he continues to add to his achievements with the Premier League side.
