“It is not good” — Chrisantus Uche faults La Liga for racism
By Monsurah Olatunji
Nigerian midfielder Chrisantus Uche has voiced his concerns about what he perceives as biased officiating in La Liga, attributing it to racial discrimination.
The 21-year-old, who has been with Getafe since his stint at Ceuta, expressed his frustrations during an interview with ESPN.
Uche described his experiences on the pitch as particularly disheartening, noting instances where he was fouled but received little support from referees.
He stressed a specific incident where, after being struck, the referee dismissed him with a “get up!” instead of acknowledging the foul, a response he found painful and frustrating.
Despite his rising profile, especially after scoring his debut goal against Athletic Bilbao, Uche’s remarks may lead to scrutiny from the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA).
If the committee takes action, he could face repercussions, potentially impacting his participation in upcoming matches for Getafe.
