Second-placed AC Milan twice fought back from two goals down to secure a 3-3 draw at relegation-threatened Sassuolo with a late equaliser by substitute Noah Okafor in Serie A on Sunday.
The Swiss-Nigerian striker who came on for Rafael Leao, earned a late draw for the Rossoneri.
Milan’s five-game winning run in Serie A was ended by Sassuolo on Sunday afternoon, but they battled back from two different two-goal deficits to snatch a 3-3 draw, thanks to super-sub Okafor.
Early goals from Andrea Pinamonti and Armand Lauriente had the Neroverdi in dreamland as they sought a win to boost their survival hopes, but Rafael Leao’s excellent solo goal got Milan back in it.
Lauriente scored again in the second half to restore the two-goal lead, then Luka Jovic and
Okafor both scored to drag the Rossoneri back level.
In his post-match interview with DAZN, Okafor reaffirmed his trust in his teammates ahead of Thursday’s decisive Europa League match at the Stadio Olimpico.
“We are a good team, we know what we are capable of – we will go to Rome to win, I believe 100% in my teammates. Now we have to recover, physically and mentally to play to the best of our abilities,” he said.
Meanwhile, Super Eagles star, Samuel Chukwueze had another stunning performance but unlucky game as he scored two goals which were overturned by VAR as offsides based on the most miniscule of margins.
The Nigerian winger won the Man of the Match award in their previous game and will hope to help the Rossoneri in their next game.
Milan have 69 points, six ahead of Juventus with six matches left and will next face AS Roma.
